GE Vernova’s Power Conversion & Storage business focuses on advanced energy solutions for utilities and industries. The Lead Field Engineer will oversee the installation, service, and commissioning of products while providing technical support and troubleshooting at customer sites.
Responsibilities:
- Perform installation and commissioning on drive systems, power systems, automation systems or dynamic positioning systems at customer site locations during ship construction
- Performs troubleshooting activities at site locations during scheduled Port visits or at sea to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution, and implements corrective actions
- Performs a wide range of engineering tasks to ensure the technical integrity and proper installation and commissioning of our equipment
- Develop documentation to execute work such as commissioning and maintenance procedures, as well as execute customer training
- Execute on site project management and technical leader duties to resolve customer issues and provide customer satisfaction
- Identify sales opportunities for service agreements, spare parts, training, and upgrades
- Provide on call support in response to customer calls for service
- Assist in the growth and direction of the North American business
- Provide support to engineering teams working on customer upgrade projects
- Complete timely service reports and other administrative requirements
- Perform work on-board vessels within GE / Customer safety guidelines either in shipyards or offshore
- Extended hours / overtime maybe required during peak periods and emergency circumstances
- Domestic or overseas travel to customer sites for extended periods of time
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university
- OR Associate's Degree or related discipline from an accredited college or university with a minimum 5 additional years of related industry experience
- OR High School diploma or GED equivalency with a minimum of 8 years of related industry experience
- Ability and willingness to travel 85% of the time on short notice
- US Person with the ability to achieve security clearance for Department of Defense projects
- Previous Marine Industry Experience
- Must be physically fit to be able to board vessels offshore
- For field service engineers that have the potential of working offshore, must be able to pass a Helicopter Underwater Egress Training (HUET) and offshore survival course which includes activities in a swimming pool

- Background in a customer facing position within a Service environment
- Ability to execute increasingly complicated assignments, which require considerable engineering skill and creative ability and independent judgment
- Strong computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office applications
