Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI) is seeking a Principal Systems Studies Engineer in their Power Systems Engineering Division. The role involves leading complex power systems studies, guiding internal teams, and representing MEPPI as a thought leader in power systems consulting.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and lead studies including insulation coordination, harmonics, grounding, transient stability, and generator interconnection using tools such as PSCAD, PSS/E, EMTP-RV, and others
- Execute studies on distributed energy resources, battery storage, and grid planning using CYME, Synergi, ETAP, and Plexos
- Manage all aspects of study execution: scope, strategy, schedule, budget, resource planning, and reporting
- Automate and enhance simulation models using programming tools like MATLAB, Python, and C++
- Lead customer proposal development and technical report delivery, ensuring high-quality, accurate documentation
- Present technical findings internally and externally; author white papers and conference presentations
- Collaborate with internal divisions and global counterparts to support product application and equipment design parameters
- Provide technical mentorship and promote the effective use of engineering tools and processes
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
- Minimum 7 years of experience in utility planning, power systems consulting, or T&D application engineering
- Advanced expertise in electric power system modeling, operation, and control
- Proven experience with industry-standard tools including PSCAD, EMTP-RV, PSS/E, ASPEN, CAPE, and economic analysis software (PROMOD, MAPS)
- Proficiency in data analysis and automation using MATLAB, Python, C++, or similar
- Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulatory bodies (IEEE, NERC, IEC, NESC, CIGRE)
- Excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills
- Master's or PhD preferred
