Paradigm Technology is seeking a Business Analyst for a short-term engagement to support the evaluation and recommendation of trade compliance software solutions. This role will focus on requirements analysis, solution assessment, and executive-ready recommendations, particularly emphasizing U.S.–Mexico import/export operations and trade regulation compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Elicit, analyze, and document business and regulatory requirements related to:
- U.S. and Mexico import/export compliance
- Customs declarations, classifications, and valuation
- Trade agreements (e.g., USMCA)
- Restricted party screening and denied party controls
- Recordkeeping and audit readiness
- Collaborate with trade compliance, logistics, customs, legal, and IT stakeholders to validate requirements
- Translate regulatory and operational needs into clear functional and non-functional system requirements
- Evaluate existing and/or candidate trade compliance software platforms against documented requirements
- Assess solution capabilities such as:
- Automated classification and origin determination
- USMCA qualification and documentation
- Broker integration and customs filing support
- Reporting, audit trails, and compliance monitoring
- Identify gaps, risks, integration considerations, and process impacts
- Develop comparative analyses, scorecards, and executive-level summaries
- Provide clear, data-backed recommendations on solution fit, risks, and implementation considerations
- Support stakeholder decision-making through presentations and workshops
- Business and regulatory requirements documentation
- Solution evaluation matrix and gap analysis
- Risk and dependency assessment
- Final recommendation package (presentation and/or report) suitable for leadership review
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with direct experience in trade compliance or global trade systems
- Strong knowledge of U.S.–Mexico import/export regulations, including customs, tariffs, and trade agreements (USMCA)
- Experience evaluating or implementing trade compliance software (e.g., GTM, customs, or trade management platforms)
- Proven ability to work independently in short, outcome-focused engagements
- Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder facilitation skills
- Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, or global logistics teams
- Familiarity with ERP integrations (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and data flows related to trade compliance
- Background in solution selection, RFPs, or vendor evaluations
