Bechtel Corporation is a global leader in project management and construction services, and they are seeking a Crane & Rigging Field Engineer. In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization, ensuring safe and efficient execution of rigging and heavy haul activities while coordinating with various teams to meet project requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the planning, review, and execution of rigging/heavy haul activities to ensure safe and efficient execution of work
- Provides technical guidance to construction engineers, superintendents, and craft regarding rigging/heavy haul requirements
- Prepares conceptual lift/heavy haul and transport studies
- Provides technical input into the development of transport, heavy haul, rigging and lift strategies by advising project supervision and field engineering personnel on crane and heavy transport requirements
- Prepares technical specifications for bid packages and assesses subcontractor technical bid packages for lifting and abnormal transport requirements
- Provides input and assists in the preparation of estimates
- Prepares and reviews medium risk rigging/heavy haul plans; prepares lift data sheets and formal calculations
- Prepares and reviews medium lift/heavy haul and site transport plans submitted by subcontractors or others if a Bechtel Certified Rigging Engineer (CRE) or coordinates the approval for critical lift/heavy haul and transport studies with a Bechtel CRE
- Monitors the application of standard work processes and procedures
- Monitors compliance of rigging/heavy haul operations with approved rigging/heavy haul plans and applicable codes
- Works with safety personnel regarding rigging/heavy haul-related safety procedures and requirements
Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
- Professional with an understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of issues
- Project coordination and organizational skills
- Equipment and fleet management proficiency
- Data entry and reporting accuracy
- Knowledge of construction materials, tools, and equipment
- Safety and quality compliance awareness
- Ability to interpret and follow procedures and work rules
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities
