They are seeking a Senior IT Cloud Engineer to serve as the technical lead for the Cloud App Factory team, responsible for designing and implementing enterprise cloud solutions while ensuring compliance with architectural standards and security protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Incorporating enterprise architecture and security standards into solution design and implementation
- Working with the architect team to define architecture
- Understanding complex requests and breaking them down into actionable, well-designed solutions
- Serving as the technical lead by guiding and mentoring the engineering team
- Ensuring that enterprise cloud solutions are optimized for cost and functionality
- Responsible for execution of the cloud / infrastructure strategy set by architects
- Developing internal and external compatibility of the system and subsystems
- Developing highly complex scripts using a tool or combination of tools to automate a task or a series of tasks
- Developing, complying, and may oversee team compliance with SLAs or OLAs
- Documenting new or modified solutions, installation instructions and other system-related information
- Writing configuration for cloud platforms leveraging appropriate tools
- Collaborating with developers and is responsible for the 'Ops' part of DevOps
- Developing and may maintain tools and frameworks that other teams use to smoothly develop their applications
- Using technology to implement automation and orchestration
- Leading the implementation and integration of cloud solutions and technologies across business and IT functions, products, and platforms
- Proactively seeking new ways to integrate cloud solutions with existing enterprise tools and systems
- Responsible for compliance of cloud solutions to architectural standards
- Leading evaluations of enterprise cloud technology standards, tools, products, and solutions to identify opportunities for improvement
- Partnering with security staff to ensure Cloud solutions support maintenance of a secure technology environment
- Responsible for planning and validating the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Cloud solutions
- Implementing governance for role-based access control (RBAC), cost containment and cloud provider account management
- Developing time and cost estimates for cloud solutions
- Creating and determining Cloud systems specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility
- Evaluating technical requirements to determine the impact of Cloud technologies on the infrastructure including equipment redundancy and capacity requirements
- Creating the physical design for cloud-based solutions for infrastructure and platforms
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with 5 years' demonstrated technical experience and 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience, or Associate's degree with 7 years' experience and 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience, or HS/GED with 9 years of experience and 1 years' of demonstrated leadership experience in a large, complex organization like Mayo Clinic may be considered in lieu of the degree
- Demonstrated ability to work across multiple environments including cloud and on-premise, and multiple operating systems
- Functional understanding of cloud ecosystem and leading-edge cloud emerging technologies
- Working knowledge of the practical application of engineering and technology including applying principles, techniques, procedures, hardware and tools to the design and production of various products and services
- Working knowledge of data center design best practices
- Knowledge of and ability to apply DevOps principles and ways of working
- Ability to develop and deliver requirements, concepts of operations, use cases, demonstrations, and presentations to both one-to-one and in small groups
- Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for anticipating, recognizing, managing, and resolving technical (hardware, software, application, or operational) problems
- Ability to effectively communicate with and present to senior management and executive stakeholders (e.g., IT Leadership)
- Certification in cloud engineering is required. The following certifications are acceptable for this requirement: Google Associate Cloud Engineer, Google Professional Cloud Architect, Terraform Associate, or similar certifications at the same or higher technical level
