Sargent & Lundy Consulting works on behalf of clients to support electric power projects, evaluating and optimizing various aspects. The Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer will provide development support, conceptual design, and owner’s engineer services, focusing on technical evaluations and project support for electric power generation projects.
Responsibilities:
- In this role, you will provide development support, conceptual design and owner’s engineer services to clients including performing technical evaluations of electric power generation projects and facilities
- You will also have the opportunity to support project economic and cost analysis, risk assessments, and contract development
- Your responsibilities will include engineering design reviews, technical due diligence, project development support, and conceptual design
- Particular experience in design of conventional power projects is desired
- You will have the opportunity to travel within the United States as well as internationally
Requirements:
- This position requires a BS in mechanical or electrical engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program with a strong academic background
- 10 or more years of relevant power plant and heavy industrial control systems experience, specifically: Simple cycle gas turbines, Combined cycle projects, Coal fired generation, or Reciprocating engines (RICE)
- An understanding of the practical application of instrumentation and controls engineering and technology including applying systems, principles, techniques, and procedures to a project design
- Experience with DCS, TCS, and/or PLCs programming
- Experience reading and creating logic diagrams and control narratives
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- Excellent technical communication and writing skills are required
- Experience in technical due diligence and owner's engineering design reviews of conventional power projects is a plus
- General understanding of power station operations and performance reviews is a plus
- General understanding of process design at electric power generation facilities is a plus
- Economic, cost analysis, and contract development experience is a plus
- Experience performing field work (i.e. control system upgrades, commission, start-up) is a plus
- PE license or ability to earn PE licenses
