They are seeking a passionate and highly experienced Elder Law Attorney to provide expert legal counsel to elderly clients and their families on estate planning, wills, trusts, and Medicaid planning.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal counsel to elderly clients and their families on estate planning, wills, trusts, retirement asset management, and Medicaid planning
- Draft, review, and customize legal documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives to meet individual client needs
- Develop and implement effective estate and gift tax strategies to optimize client assets and minimize liabilities
- Navigate the complexities of Medicaid regulations, assisting clients in planning for long-term care and eligibility requirements
- Advocate for the rights of the elderly in various settings, including courtrooms, nursing homes, and administrative hearings
- Stay current with evolving elder law statutes, regulations, and best practices to provide informed legal advice
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including financial advisors and healthcare professionals, to deliver comprehensive client solutions
- Maintain detailed case records, ensure compliance with legal standards, and manage client expectations effectively
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Current license to practice law in Virginia and admitted to the Virginia Bar
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in elder law, estate planning, and related legal areas
- Proven expertise in retirement asset planning, estate and gift tax strategies, and trust drafting
- In-depth knowledge of wills, trusts, property law, and Medicaid regulations
- Strong advocacy skills with a demonstrated passion for elder law issues
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and their families
- High ethical standards, professionalism, and a commitment to client confidentiality
- Ability to work independently, manage a high-volume caseload, and prioritize effectively
- Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail for resolving complex legal issues
- Familiarity with legal research tools and relevant software applications
