Senior Civil Structural Engineer

Helion is seeking an experienced Senior Civil/Structural Engineer (PE) to join their growing team in a fully remote capacity. The ideal candidate will lead structural design and analysis for steel building projects, ensuring compliance with building codes while collaborating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Lead structural design and analysis for steel building projects
• Design structural steel framing systems, including beams, columns, braced frames, moment frames, and connections
• Prepare and review structural calculations, construction documents, specifications, and reports
• Perform structural modeling and analysis using industry-standard software
• Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, etc.)
• Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and clients in a remote setting
• Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs
• Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior engineers
• Support project management tasks including scheduling, budgeting, and client communication

Requirements:

• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state (multi-state licensure preferred)
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis required); Master's degree preferred
• Minimum of 8 years of structural engineering experience in building design
• Extensive experience designing structural steel systems for buildings
• Applicable local and state codes
• Proficiency in structural analysis and modeling software (e.g., ETABS, RAM, SAP2000, RISA, STAAD, etc.)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a fully remote environment
• Experience with additional materials (concrete, masonry, wood)
• Experience with design-build project delivery
• Project management experience
• SE license (a plus, but not required)
