Helion is seeking an experienced Senior Civil/Structural Engineer (PE) to join their growing team in a fully remote capacity. The ideal candidate will lead structural design and analysis for steel building projects, ensuring compliance with building codes while collaborating with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Lead structural design and analysis for steel building projects
- Design structural steel framing systems, including beams, columns, braced frames, moment frames, and connections
- Prepare and review structural calculations, construction documents, specifications, and reports
- Perform structural modeling and analysis using industry-standard software
- Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, etc.)
- Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and clients in a remote setting
- Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs
- Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior engineers
- Support project management tasks including scheduling, budgeting, and client communication
Requirements:
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state (multi-state licensure preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis required); Master's degree preferred
- Minimum of 8 years of structural engineering experience in building design
- Extensive experience designing structural steel systems for buildings
- Applicable local and state codes
- Proficiency in structural analysis and modeling software (e.g., ETABS, RAM, SAP2000, RISA, STAAD, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a fully remote environment
- Experience with additional materials (concrete, masonry, wood)
- Experience with design-build project delivery
- Project management experience
- SE license (a plus, but not required)
