Colovore is the leader in ultra-high-density, liquid-cooled AI colocation data centers. They are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to guide the design, construction, and operations of their high-density data centers, overseeing multidisciplined design teams and ensuring the reliability and efficiency of electrical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Support the design and specification of data center electrical infrastructure, including power distribution systems, engine-generators, UPS systems, and automated power transfer systems
- Oversee electrical system design and implementation including review of MEP engineering consultant designs, calculations, sequence of operations, power system studies (short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, thermal ampacity), and verification of controls compliance with Owner Project Requirements (OPR)
- Assist in developing data hall layouts including modular IT Pod configurations, PDU power weaves, RPP striping, IT rack power whip distribution, and coordination with multiple cooling distribution options including overhead piping and under floor systems (raised access floors), fan wall galleries, in-room CRAHs, etc
- Review Revit models, design drawings, and submittals for accuracy and constructability
- Lead external architectural, civil/structural, and MEP engineering teams during site selection, design development, and permitting
- Support construction teams with RFI responses, design clarifications, installation oversight, and electrical construction QA/QC
- Participate in factory witness testing, commissioning, and integrated systems testing for new builds and retrofits
- Help evaluate vendor proposals and equipment specifications to ensure alignment with performance requirements
- Manage as-constructed Revit models for Colovore internal use including development of digital twins
- Support operations teams in troubleshooting, tuning, and optimizing electrical systems across active data centers
- Perform root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions for electrical issues or performance deviations
- Analyze operational data to identify efficiency improvements, reliability enhancements, and capacity-planning insights
- Assist in drafting, updating, and reviewing Methods of Procedure (MOPs) related to electrical system operation and maintenance
- Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers, Controls Engineers, and Operations Teams to ensure electrical system integration and operational effectiveness
- Work with Development, Finance, and Business Units to provide electrical design input for feasibility studies and cost models
- Support sustainability initiatives, energy-efficiency improvements, and innovation in high-density power distribution and cooling approaches
- Write, update and maintain electrical system documentation, including Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR), engineering specifications, record (as-built) design documents, equipment vendor information, factory test and commissioning test results, and system performance analyses
- Prepare technical reports, engineering summaries, and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure all electrical engineering work aligns with regulatory, code, safety, and security compliance requirements
Requirements:
- Minimum 7 years of electrical engineering experience in data center design & construction
- Hands-on experience leading and executing electrical system design, construction administration, commissioning, and operations support
- Familiarity with NFPA, ANSI/IEEE, UL, and IEC standards, building codes, and electrical engineering best practices
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related electrical discipline; EIT or PE preferred
- Strong understanding of concurrently maintainable, high-availability electric power systems and electrical infrastructure in mission-critical environments
- Ability to perform and analyze engineering calculations (short-circuit, voltage drop, real/reactive power capacity, PUE, overcurrent settings)
- Experience reading, interpreting, and reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and submittals
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose system issues and recommend solutions
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for interfacing with internal stakeholders, external consultants, vendors, and contractors
