The Lead Systems Engineer will oversee the development, integration, testing, and verification of sophisticated systems on the missionized Gulfstream G550 platform, ensuring compliance with certification standards and collaborating with internal teams and clients.
Responsibilities:
- Developing comprehensive aircraft system requirements, including Concept of Operations (ConOps), system and component specifications, and schematics
- Creating and executing verification and validation plans, including designing test procedures, conducting ground and flight tests, and preparing certification reports
- Supporting the development of technical publications such as operating manuals, maintenance instructions, and airworthiness documentation by providing source data and reviews
- Participating in technical interchange meetings, program reviews, testing phases, and aircraft field support, often involving travel
- Applying expertise in encrypted communications, flight deck missionization, Emissions Control (EMCON), and Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) systems
- Utilizing proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) for documentation and presentations
- Communicating effectively through verbal, written, and presentation formats, and producing technical documentation such as specifications, procedures, and reports
- Performing hands-on testing and troubleshooting of aircraft electrical and mechanical systems, including working in confined aircraft spaces
- Interpreting technical documentation, including system schematics, mechanical and electrical drawings, and industry standards (MIL, SAE, RTCA, 14 CFR)
- Contributing to bid proposals and project requirements management using tools such as DOORS, JAMA, or MBSE tools like CSM
- Supporting aircraft certification processes in accordance with civil (14 CFR Part 25) and military standards (MIL-HDBK-516)
- Collaborating with subcontractors and government agencies to ensure project compliance and successful delivery
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, a Graduate Degree with at least 7 years of experience, or 15+ years of experience in lieu of a degree
- Proven expertise in program planning, guidance, and engineering execution within scope, schedule, and budget constraints
- Strong understanding of engineering processes, policies, and aircraft integration, testing, and delivery
- Ability to travel as required based on project needs, up to 10%
- An active DoD Secret Security Clearance, with the ability to obtain a Top Secret (SCI) clearance; U.S. citizenship is required
