Senior Generative AI Engineer (Engineer Machine Learning 5) - 26231

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking a Senior Generative AI Engineer to join their team. This remote position involves creating and managing end-to-end generative AI solutions, supporting AI and digital modernization for both internal and external clients, with applications ranging from intelligence analysis to manufacturing optimization.

Responsibilities:

• Operational AI Implementation: Research, develop, and apply machine learning, deep learning, and large language model (LLM) techniques for deployment in operational environments
• Full Stack Design and Development: Rapidly design and create prototype applications to demonstrate AI capabilities. Transition prototypes to production by designing and implementing well-architected, scalable software stacks
• Client Engagement: Support meetings with internal clients and external customers as a subject matter expert in AI and advanced software solutions, with a focus on cloud technologies and generative AI
• Manage and deliver on multiple concurrent projects across different customer environments
• Collaborate across a wide array of individuals at varying levels of technical skills
• Effective writing and speaking ability to communicate complex strategies and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and leaders

Requirements:

• 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience
• Experience with all of the following: Programming languages: Python
• Containerized development and deployment: Docker, Rancher, and/or K8s
• Cloud engineering: Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Databases: SQL, NoSQL, and/or vector databases
• CI/CD pipeline management
• DevSecOps design/deployment principles
• Hands-on experience with current open-source LLMs and ecosystem tools (e.g., model serving, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, embeddings)
• Experience developing generative AI products or platforms, including multimodal use cases (e.g., text, vision, audio, document understanding)
• Ability to travel to customer location(s) occasionally with advance notice
• Clearance: Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
• Bachelors in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent technologies/experience
• Experience with UI/UX development: JavaScript (Angular, React)
• Backend development: REST API, web apps, microservices
• Experience supporting feature development and maintenance for an enterprise-scale application
• Experience building multi-step agentic workflows and orchestrators using frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, PromptGraph, or custom in-house pipelines
