Kelso Building Services is committed to empowering team members with necessary tools and support for success. The HVAC Controls Design Engineer will independently deliver BAS control design packages for various projects and translate specifications into complete control submittals.
Responsibilities:
- Own design submittals for standard systems, including control diagrams, sequences, point lists, panel layouts, and network risers
- Interpret mechanical plans, schedules, and specifications to develop appropriate control strategies using Kelso libraries
- Apply Kelso controller selection guidelines (e.g., Distech IP/filed controllers, BACnet MS/TP where applicable) and ensure proper I/O sizing
- Coordinate with PMs, Superintendents, and BAS Programmers to address design-related RFIs and changes
- Provide design support during commissioning and T&M activities on assigned projects
Requirements:
- Successful performance as a Kelso BAS Design Technician or equivalent external role
- Solid understanding of HVAC systems commonly encountered in Kelso projects
- Proficiency in Kelso CAD/Revit standards and documentation practices
- Approximately 3–5 years of BAS experience
- Hands-on experience with Niagara or similar platforms
- Familiarity with BACnet/IP and basic OT networking
- Experience collaborating with GCs, mechanical contractors, and owner reps
