The Engineering Project Manager will lead the planning, design, development, and execution of mechanical systems for power distribution units, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure design standards are met.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage cross-disciplinary engineering projects focused on power distribution units and related components, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocations to meet project milestones
- Design and oversee the mechanical aspects of enclosures, heat dissipation systems, and mechanical interfaces for PDUs, ensuring optimal performance and manufacturability
- Collaborate closely with electrical engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of transformers, busbars, breakers, harnessing, and control systems
- Assess designs for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, reliability, and safety compliance, implementing improvements as necessary
- Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers to evaluate production readiness, quality, and process capabilities
- Support design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for testing (DFT) initiatives, including prototyping and validation builds
- Participate in factory acceptance testing, field trials, and failure analysis to ensure product quality and performance standards are met
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of mechanical design experience, with at least 2 years managing projects or leading cross-functional teams
- Experience designing components for low- or medium-voltage electrical systems such as PDUs, switchgear, busbar systems, or controls
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design fundamentals, including thermal management, sheet metal fabrication, plastics, structural integrity, and environmental sealing
- Proficiency with project management tools, preferably Click-Up or similar platforms
- Familiarity with regulatory testing and certification standards such as UL, IEC, and CE
- Experience working with product lifecycle management (PLM/PDM) systems
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly desirable
