About this role
Tapio is a mission-driven clean energy company developing a breakthrough approach to distributed power generation. They are seeking a Senior Electrical Systems Engineer to support the design, testing, and integration of power generation systems for their unique energy platform, focusing on converting mechanical energy into grid-ready power.
Responsibilities:
- Specify, evaluate, and test power generation and power electronics systems
- Design electrical architecture to convert mechanical energy into grid-ready power
- Support equipment selection and system sizing across a range of voltage levels
- Create test procedures and support failure analysis for deployed and in-development systems
- Collaborate on interconnection strategy, including protective design and permitting
- Contribute to continuous product development—simplifying, containerizing, and scaling electrical components
Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline (required)
- 10+ years of experience in power system design, preferably involving rotating equipment
- Experience with generators, transformers, switchgear, VFDs, and associated infrastructure
- Strong understanding of power flow, electrical protection, and grid interface requirements
- Ability to work across disciplines and iterate in a fast-paced, early-stage environment
