REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Adm. Director of Medical Imaging
GENERAL SUMMARY
The RIS/PACS Manager reports to the Adm. Director of Medical Imaging. The primary job function is to provide the leadership and management skills necessary to develop, implement, monitor, and lead the functionality of medical imaging's computer system and managing the effective daily operation of the computer system, training of staff, and statistical reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
• High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam required
• Associate Degree in Health Sciences or Healthcare Informatics required
Licensure:
• ARRT -or- CIIP (or any other applicable certification) within 12 months of hire required
Experience:
• Previous Medical Imaging experience preferred.
• Technical skills with knowledge of PACS hardware/software, DICOM, HL7, SQL, and Windows server preferred
• Basic medical technology and computer skills preferred.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
1. RIS/PACS/Dictation Server Management: Responsible for the operational administration management of all PACS servers and workstations. Troubleshoots systems and connectivity issues and oversees activities of vendors and IS Department in all phases of installations. Ensures the optimal operation of the Radiology application production environment RIS, PACS, Voice Recognition and other Radiology applications.
2. Backup Management: Assist IS department for backup management of department systems servers and storage administration.
3. Software Management: Works with IS to increase storage capacities as needed. Performs department software upgrades.
4. PACS administrator manages training on PACS for radiologists, technologists, other technical staff and PACS support. Provides user support and troubleshoots systems issues. The administrator must maintain a productive and joint relationship with doctors, department managers and anyone in a leadership position within the hospital or contracts groups.
5. Documentation: Works in conjunction with IS to develop and maintain enterprise-wide policies and procedures on his or her desk to permit other employees to follow step-by-step processes to keep the department functioning in an emergency.
6. Cross Training: Acquires and maintains adequate familiarity with all enterprise-wide policies and procedures to permit the performance of other tasks on a temporary basis in an emergency and conducts regular drills to demonstrate such competency.
7. Departmental Computer System Management: Works in conjunction with IS to manage computer systems that interface with Radiology computing systems.
8. Inner Department Computer System management: Works with Medical Imaging managers to develop computer system usefulness to meet the needs of Medical Imaging sub-units.
9. Vendor/Support Management: Servers as a vendor liaison, assisting with vendor relationships for support, upgrades and maintenance.
10. Troubleshoots computer systems and problems in Medical Imaging.
11. Monitors daily operations and disk space, troubleshoots computer problems cannot be resolved.
12. Report Management: build and generate reports
13. Maintains, installs and updates PACS system application.
14. Makes changes to databases on RIS, PACS and other medical imaging systems when necessary to fix broken, incorrect, or corrupted records.
15. Checks orders and charges to make sure billing is correct daily.
16. Participates in team involvement for determining the need & evaluating technology products for the Medical Imaging Department.
17. Works with outside facilities and physicians with exporting and importing electronic image transfers
18. Transmit and Split Images as needed.
19. Assist MI managers and Radiologists with BI reports on productivity and system status for Radiology
20. Manages the IDM/Meditech module in coordination with Clinical Information Systems (CIS).
21. Other duties as assigned.
