About the role
Senior Cost Controller to join our APAC Projects Team. The role is offered on a permanent full-time basis and located at our Perth CBD office.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President - Projects APAC, you will be responsible for leading cost control, forecasting, and reporting activities across projects, ensuring accurate budget development, cost monitoring, earned value analysis, and financial reporting to support effective project delivery within approved budgets. The role operates within a project delivery environment and interfaces closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and commercial teams.
Duties
- Develop and maintain project budgets, cost breakdown structures (CBS), and control budgets
- Establish cost control procedures and reporting frameworks
- Monitor project expenditures against approved budgets
- Track commitments, accruals, and actual costs
- Analyse cost trends, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain accurate cost forecasts to completion
- Support change management processes, including cost impact assessments
- Prepare and issue weekly and monthly cost reports
- Develop and maintain cost dashboards and KPI reporting
- Perform earned value analysis (EVA) and productivity tracking
- Provide financial insights and scenario analysis to Project Managers and senior leadership
- Support contract administration through cost verification and progress measurement
- Review contractor payment claims and variations
- Work closely with commercial managers on claims, risk allowances, and contingencies
- Contribute to quantitative risk assessments and cost risk analysis
- Maintain contingency drawdown tracking
- Identify cost optimisation opportunities
About you
- Degree - Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Finance or related discipline
- 8+ years’ experience in cost control within mining, minerals processing, EPC or EPCM projects
- Experience across study, FEED and execution phases
- Proficiency in cost control systems (eg. Contruent, Costract, InEight or equivalent)
- Advanced Excel and Power BI capability
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify trends
- Strong understanding of mining project life cycle, capital project delivery and EPCM reimbursable manhour management
- Knowledge of earned value management principles and processes for cost and hour reimbursable project and project portfolio management
