GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Transmission Project Manager 2 to join their Power Delivery team. This role involves coordinating and managing multiple projects, ensuring alignment with company goals, and leading teams in project execution and client communication.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate client team meetings, including recording and publishing meeting notes
- Assist teams of engineers in developing the project-specific scope of work documents
- Assist with and coordinate teams of engineers reviewing design submittals
- Apply thorough broad-based knowledge of electric utility projects
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborate with internal and client subject matter experts to continuously improve the documents
- Keep informed of new methods and developments affecting the organization and recommend new practices or changes in emphasis of programs
- Assist in quality control and quality assurance of active projects, providing peer reviews and training of engineers and designers in quality control processes
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills, and can develop, implement, and maintain processes for document control
- Mentor engineers and staff providing training assistance
- Manage assigned projects, including responsibility for delivering scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and profitability
- Coordinate and develop proposed scope, schedule, and fee for projects managed
- Demonstrate proficiency of fundamental project management skills and use of project management techniques and practices to increase productivity, efficiency, and accuracy
- Work closely with Project Controls/Accounting staff to monitor and control project cost and billings to meet budget profit, analyze project performance data on an ongoing basis, and develop recovery plans as needed
- Serve as primary client contact for projects managed and actively win new work from both new and existing clients by building and maintaining customer relationships, monitoring future work opportunities, and communicating regularly
- Establish and refine engineering processes and standard operating procedures that enhance team performance, alignment, and delivery predictability
Requirements:
- 12+ Years of Experience
- B.S. or M.S. Engineering
- Knowledge of electric utility transmission line engineering and design
- Knowledge of project management skills and uses of intermediate practices to increase productivity, efficiency, and accuracy
- Effective communication with clients, management, peers, and subordinates
- Strong verbal and written communication and organization skills are required
- Expertise in developing project schedules, cost budgets, and understanding and analysis of the financial data
- Mastery of intermediate to advanced project management financial concepts, including developing pricing, cost budget monitoring, and calculating profit
- Experience with Deltek required
- Understanding of software needed to perform the duties described here, including Primavera P6, and Microsoft Office Suite applications and software
- Experience with Primavera P6 scheduling software required

- Must be able to lift and carry tools, equipment, technical samples, documents, and other materials weighing up to 40–50 pounds
- Frequent bending, crouching, and climbing may be required during fieldwork and sample collection
- Ability to safely operate and wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as helmets, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and boots as required by site safety protocols
- Visual acuity and manual dexterity to handle technical tools, read maps and instruments, observe site conditions, and document findings accurately
- Comfortable working in remote or isolated locations, sometimes for extended durations
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and/or at heights, as required by specific project sites
- May require driving long distances to field sites and operating vehicles on unpaved or uneven roads
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states
