Omnissa is the first AI-driven digital work platform, built to support flexible, secure, work-from anywhere experiences. The Staff Engineer will architect, design, and guide the evolution of the next-generation Unified Endpoint Management platform for Apple, focusing on secure and scalable endpoint management solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and scale backend services that integrate with Apple’s MDM ecosystem (APNs, DEP/ADE, VPP/Apps & Books, declarative management)
- Implement secure device lifecycle workflows including enrollment, policy enforcement, compliance, and telemetry ingestion
- Optimize high-throughput systems handling millions of device events with strong reliability and performance guarantees

- Strong backend engineering experience with deep hands-on knowledge of Apple MDM protocols and services (APNs, ADE/DEP, VPP, MDM payloads)
- Experience building distributed systems, REST/gRPC APIs, and event-driven pipelines (Kafka or similar)
- Solid grounding in security, certificates, authentication flows, and large-scale cloud services
- Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages like C#, Java, Go etc
- Proven experience designing and scaling microservices deployed on cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Solid understanding of networking, security protocols, authentication (OAuth, OpenID Connect), and data compliance
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical leadership abilities
- Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering practical AI‑driven solutions, leveraging LLMs, automation frameworks, or intelligent workflows to solve real engineering or customer problems
- Strong hands‑on ability to prototype, experiment, and ship AI‑powered features, tools, or internal accelerators
- Ability to identify high‑impact opportunities where AI can enhance product capabilities, developer productivity, and operational efficiency
- Architect and own end-to-end design of core UEM platform components, spanning device management, policy orchestration, identity, security, and cloud scalability
- Lead and influence architectural decisions across backend services, mobile/desktop agents, and SaaS delivery infrastructure
- Define and evolve technical vision, long-term roadmap, and engineering best practices for the UEM product line
- Partner with platform, mobile, and SRE teams to deliver highly available, secure, and performant device management services
- Guide complex debugging, system performance optimization, and triage of production issues
- Collaborate closely with product management, UX, SRE, security, and customer engineering teams to shape feature requirements and deliver high-quality releases
- Influence technical direction across multiple UEM sub-teams, ensuring architectural alignment and quality
- Mentor Staff and Senior Engineers, promote a strong engineering culture, and champion best practices in code quality, testing, and design
- Lead technical deep dives, RFC reviews, and design reviews across the org
- Experience driving org-wide architectural initiatives or modernizing legacy systems
- Prior experience/understanding of Workspace ONE, Intune, JAMF, MobileIron, or similar MDMs would be advantageous
