Product Development Engineer

In this critical role as a Product Development Engineer, you will lead the charge in developing automated validation solutions that power our next generation of products. This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives on the challenge of validating new features and is committed to upholding the highest levels of quality assurance. You will be tasked with the end-to-end design and execution of comprehensive verification strategies, ensuring every line of code meets our rigorous safety and performance standards. Your contributions will be instrumental not only in driving the success of our current projects but also in sustaining our long-standing reputation for engineering excellence.

What you'll do...

• Design and execute test methods and automation scripts for requirements verification purposes, at multiple integration/solution levels.

• Lead incidents triage, performs root cause analysis, and contributes with Preventive Actions design.

• Use Test Management tools for test planning review, execution, monitoring review (proficient key metrics interpretation), and reporting of Test Results. 

• Use defect management tools for defect creation and resolution monitoring.

• Fully understand and apply Ford Standards and tools for pipeline development.

• Follow code artisanship best practices, quality, and security standards; and contributes to the improvement of them.

You'll have...

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

• 3+ years of professional experience in Software and Requirements Automation Verification, with a proven track record of developing automated test suites and validation solutions.

• 3+ years of Python scripting to develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts.

• Specific experience with the Slash testing framework (or comparable Python automation ecosystems) for test orchestration.

 

Even better, you may have...

• Proficiency in configuring and operating HIL environments and virtual test drive software for complex ECU and system-level validation of ADAS features like Adaptive Cruise Control or Lane Keeping Aid.

• 2+ years of experience with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including familiarity with ADAS features and the specific testing methodologies required for safety-critical automotive systems.

• Effectively uses software configuration management (source control, DevSecOps, CI/CD, etc.).

• Proven experience with automotive-specific tools and technologies, such as CANoe/CANalyzer, Wireshark, Ethernet/CAN/LIN protocols, and debugging tools 

• Work effectively on an agile team following agile practices with Internal Software Design Verification groups as well as with Tier I and Tier II (external suppliers).

• Experience with Cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP) particularly for managing large-scale ADAS data logging, simulation at scale, or Over-the-Air (OTA) update validation.

• Experience with software operations (DevSecOps, Reliability Engineering, observability, support/maintenance, etc.).

• Experience in secure coding practices and modern software development methodology, such as pair programming, test-first/test-driven development OR demonstrated delivery of singular focus programming.

• Proficient with Automation tools. Understands and applies industry Software Quality Assurance standards (ASPICE, ISTQB, ASAM, INCOSE, etc.).

This position is a range of salary grades 6-8 and ranges from $83,280-190,500.

 

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
