What you'll do...
Component Specification & Design: Develop and author comprehensive Alternator / BISG specifications (48V or less), ensuring alignment with vehicle architecture, performance requirements, and Ford engineering standards. For power electronics and electromagnetics and circuit design as related to alternators/BISG's.
Failure Analysis & Resolution for power electronics and electromagnetic issues: Lead root cause analysis for any component or system failures related to low voltage power supplies, employing structured problem-solving methodologies.
Quality Assurance & Improvement: Leverage advanced quality tools such as 8D methodology and Six Sigma principles to identify, analyze, and drive permanent resolutions for quality issues, aiming for zero defects and actively preventing failures early in the design and manufacturing stages.
Cross-Functional Liaison: Serve as the primary technical liaison between suppliers and internal vehicle architecture teams, facilitating clear communication and ensuring seamless integration of power supply components.
System Interaction Understanding: Develop a deep understanding of the interaction between low voltage power supplies, vehicle software, and other interconnected components within the vehicle system.
Functional Safety (ASIL): Understand and apply Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) principles as they relate to the low voltage power supply system, ensuring functional safety requirements are met.
Requirements Management: Ensure that all assigned low voltage power supply components fully meet Ford's requirements as documented in FEDE, Jama, and internal component specifications.
Program Timing Adherence: Take ownership of component delivery and ensure adherence to all program timing milestones within the Global Product Development System (GPDS), proactively managing the design and release process to meet deadlines.
Product Lifecycle Ownership: Assume full ownership for component quality throughout the entire product lifecycle, encompassing initial engineering development, forward model integration, current production support, and service field performance.
Warranty Reduction: Proactively work to drive warranty claims to zero through the development of robust component specifications, rigorous supplier reviews, and comprehensive FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) studies.
Supplier Management: Collaborate closely with suppliers to ensure their designs, manufacturing processes, and quality controls meet Ford's stringent standards.
