The Department of Finance and Treasury Board, Treasury Management and Fiscal Policy Division, is seeking a dynamic, results‑driven, and seasoned senior leader to serve as Assistant Deputy Minister. The successful candidate will provide strategic oversight, guide complex fiscal policy development, and lead a high‑performing team responsible for shaping New Brunswick’s financial stewardship and long‑term economic resilience.
The Treasury Management and Fiscal Policy Division helps shape New Brunswick’s fiscal direction. We lead the Province’s work in taxation, fiscal and economic policy, economic and revenue forecasting, multi‑year budgeting, and intergovernmental fiscal relations, providing the evidence‑based insights that underpin major government decisions.
We oversee the Province’s debt and liquidity strategy, manage the Consolidated Fund, administer dedicated investment funds, and maintain strong relationships with investors and credit‑rating agencies to ensure stable and responsible access to capital markets.
Our Division is composed of four integrated branches that work together to support the Province’s long‑term financial sustainability and economic resilience: Fiscal, Economic and Statistical Analysis; Tax Policy; Debt and Funds Management; and Banking and Cash Management.
Role and Responsibilities
As the Assistant Deputy Minister of Treasury Management and Fiscal Policy Division you will help shape the Province’s fiscal direction and guiding policies, strategies, and financial frameworks that support New Brunswick’s long‑term stability and economic resilience. This is an influential position that requires sound judgment, strategic insight, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a complex, fast‑moving environment. You will be relied upon to provide government with trusted advice rooted in rigorous analysis, strong financial stewardship, and collaborative leadership across departments and with federal partners.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates that have experience in:
Solid understanding of New Brunswick’s fiscal landscape, with a strong knowledge of the Province’s tax system, public finances, and economic environment.
Experience overseeing large‑scale financial portfolios, developing policy frameworks, or guiding fiscal strategy in government or comparable institutions.

Salary: Pay Band 11 - $142,922 to $157,300 per annum
