AESC US is a global leader in the development and manufacturing of high-performance batteries for zero-emission electric vehicles and energy storage systems. They are seeking a Senior Energy Storage Application Engineer to lead technical solution development for utility-scale and commercial battery energy storage projects, serving as the primary technical interface with customers and internal teams.
Responsibilities:
- Lead technical solution design for BESS projects, including system sizing, configuration optimization, and performance modeling
- Serve as technical lead for RFP/RFQ responses, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards
- Own technical proposal packages including SLDs, layouts, performance guarantees, and compliance documentation
- Provide expert guidance on codes and standards (UL, NFPA, IEEE, CSA, local AHJ requirements)
- Interface directly with customers, EPCs, developers, and utilities to resolve technical questions and drive alignment
- Conduct technical risk analysis and develop mitigation strategies across design, performance, and schedule
- Mentor junior engineers and review technical deliverables for accuracy and quality
- Collaborate with product and R&D teams to influence product roadmap based on market and project requirements
- Support contract negotiations on technical terms, guarantees, and performance specifications
- Represent the company at technical workshops, conferences, and industry meetings
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Engineering, or related field
- 5–10+ years of experience in energy storage, power generation, grid systems, or utility-scale infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of BESS system architecture, including batteries, PCS/inverters, EMS, thermal systems, and controls
- Experience supporting customer-facing technical discussions and proposals
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and performance models
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience supporting utility-scale storage projects (>100 MWh systems)
- Knowledge of grid-forming/grid-following controls and interconnection requirements
- Familiarity with UL 9540/9540A, NFPA 855, IEEE 1547/2800, and regional interconnection processes
- Experience negotiating technical contract terms and guarantees
- Proficiency in simulation or modeling tools (Python, MATLAB, PSCAD, ETAP, Homer, etc.)
