OVERVIEW/POSITION/PURPOSE
The Horticulturist is responsible for the cultivation, design, management, and maintenance of all indoor and some outdoor landscaping ensuring high-quality, aesthetic, and healthy plant environments to enhance the guest experience. This individual will be comfortable working independently, taking initiative, and multi-tasking, leading various projects from start to finish while maintaining a safe, clean, and productive work environment. Able to work closely with the landscaping teams to uphold the resort's image.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Knowledge, selection, and maintenance of interior plants and outdoor ornamentals including cleaning, pruning, and ensuring proper lighting/moisture.
Purchasing of plants, pottery, and accessories and maintaining equipment.
Monitor, identify, and treat pests and disease, including safe handling of fertilizers and pesticides
Responsible and conservative use of water and other natural resources
Coordinating scheduling with the hotel operations to make sure responsibilities are done in a timely manner.
Safe golf cart operation
Initiative to communicate to a manager any issues in assigned areas of responsibility
Ability to work efficiently and move from one task to another without constant supervision
Behave professionally and respectfully to all fellow team members, guests, and vendors
Wage Range: $27.00-$30.00

Required
Strong knowledge of horticulture, botany, and regional plant life
2+ years of professional gardening, landscaping, or horticulture experience
Desirable
Certificate, diploma, or degree in horticulture, agriculture, or related field preferred

Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly
Must be able to work unsupervised and take initiative
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to walk or stand for long periods of time
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Must be able to work in a variety of weather including exposure to sun, heat, and rain, as well as working outdoors and indoors
Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, crawling, and kneeling in order to plant, weed, and prune
Regular use of hand tools (prunes, shears), requiring good grip strength and manual dexterity
Must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Report Check and drive company vehicle and golf cart
