Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital seeks a Room Service Server for their Nutrition department responsible for providing service excellence to patients and guests in the selection of Room Service meals and nourishments utilizing the departmental nutrition software and the medical record to support communication and implementation of physician generated dietary orders.

- Patient/Guest Menu Selection: Responsible for patient/guest satisfaction with the meal ordering process. Orients patients to meal ordering system utilizes departmental nutrition software and tablet to input patient meal orders and view reports .Utilizes interpersonal and customer service skills to create a positive room service dining experience/outcome for all patients, guests, and staff .Assists patients, caregivers, and family members in making appropriate menu selections in accordance with dietary restrictions and meal patterns and offers appropriate substitutions where necessary coordinates with clinical staff to accommodate patients with special needs Answers basic questions about hospital and/or food and beverage products. Responds to simple patient requests that are encountered during meal delivery. Communicates effectively with all members of the room service team. Communicates effectively with nursing staff in person, via vocera, phone, or other available means of communication. (50%)
- Meal Tray Set Up and Delivery: Delivers patient trays directly to patients in accordance with service protocols assists patients with set up of trays and notifies nursing staff if further assistance is necessary. Delivers between-meal nourishments directly to patient rooms and/or nursing stations. Responds to all patient needs and requests in a timely and professional manner. Expedites preparation of food trays in accordance with patients' dietary restrictions and printed meal ticket; properly measures portions and arranges food on tray; distributes trays to appropriate meal carts for delivery. Measures and prepares tube feeds from given recipes and delivers to unit pantry Communicates effectively with all members of the room service team communicates effectively with nursing staff in person, via vocera, phone, or other available means of communication. (30%)
- Safety and Sanitation: Maintains cleanliness of all pantries and notifies supervisor when additional items need to be stocked. Practices safe work habits at all times. Effectively uses personal protective equipment, including gloves, gowns, masks, eye goggles, and face shields when working in areas exposed to infectious materials, fumes, or odors, including patient isolation rooms prepares food trays in accordance with patients' diet restrictions and arranges food on serving dishes. Handles food, dishes, equipment, and supplies in a sanitary manner and in accordance with applicable manufacturer regulations maintains cleanliness of kitchen and dish room assists with cleaning of kitchen as assigned by supervisor (15%)
- Coaching/Training Sessions: Actively participates in regular training and coaching sessions continuously applies knowledge gained within training and coaching sessions to day-to-day workflow demonstrates knowledge of special diets, food allergies, and intolerances communicates effectively with all members of the room service team communicates effectively with nursing staff in person, via vocera, phone, or other available means of communication. (5%)

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
- Minimum: California Food Handlers Card within 7 days of hire or transfer into role.
- Preferred: ServSafe certificate.
Technical Requirements:
- Minimum: Ability to read and write in English. Basic arithmetic skills. Computer skills sufficient to navigate Cottage's intranet site and learn to use programs specific to the department. Basic knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office.
- Preferred: Knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutrition software.
Years of Related Work Experience:
- Minimum: 1 yr previous experience in hospitality or service industry.
- Preferred: 2 yrs previous experience in hospitality or service industry.
