JOB TITLE:
Research Technician
JOB PURPOSE:
The seasonal Research Technician will assist the Principal Investigator in conducting a field research project evaluating tomato and tomatillo varieties at the Laramie Research & Extension Center for Wyoming’s environmental conditions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include greenhouse production of seedlings, field plot layout and preparation, fencing installation around plots, transplanting, trellising, pruning, and plant training according to research protocols. The technician will provide day-to-day supervision of research plots, conduct pest and disease scouting, collect and accurately record research data, assist with data organization and preliminary analysis, and contribute to drafting preliminary reports. The position requires outdoor fieldwork, attention to detail, and the ability to follow established experimental procedures.
Work will be conducted outdoors at research plots at the Laramie Research & Extension Center. The position requires bending, lifting, walking in uneven terrain, and working in variable weather conditions typical of Wyoming’s growing season.
COMPETENCIES:
Basic knowledge of data recording and spreadsheet use
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow research protocols
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate student with experience in horticulture, agriculture, plant sciences, or related fields.
Ability to perform physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions
Ability to lift 40–50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working in field research and greenhouse environments
Familiarity with vegetable crop production
