Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence is seeking an Applications Engineer II to support the Southeast region with advanced technical sales and application support across metrology hardware and software solutions. The role involves delivering demonstrations, technical consultation, application development, and troubleshooting support for customers, requiring strong independence and hands-on metrology expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct hardware and software demonstrations showcasing metrology workflows, functionality, and performance
- Provide application-specific technical support to prospective and existing customers
- Lead onsite customer visits, including troubleshooting, workflow optimization, and training
- Support the regional sales team with technical recommendations and application guidance
- Develop and optimize measurement programs to meet customer specifications
- Manage minor programming and turnkey project tasks independently
- Prepare detailed technical input for quotations and proposals
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues from initial problem identification through final resolution and follow-up
- Maintain detailed documentation of customer interactions and technical activities
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to communicate customer feedback and field insights
- Remain current with advancements in metrology technologies and software capabilities
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, metrology, or a related technical field
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following: Laser trackers, Portable CMM arms, Handheld scanners
- Practical experience applying GD&T in manufacturing environments
- Willingness and ability to travel 60%+ including multi-day onsite visits
- Ability to independently manage schedules, logistics, and customer engagements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable presenting technical information to small and mid-sized groups
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
- Experience with SpatialAnalyzer (SA)
- Exposure to Inspire or other 3D metrology software platforms
- Prior field applications or technical sales support experience
- Experience supporting aerospace, automotive, or complex manufacturing environments
- Ability to operate effectively under pressure and in challenging customer situations
