Sully.ai is focused on revolutionizing healthcare by building AI teammates to assist clinicians. The Head of Integration Engineering will own the strategy and execution of platform integrations, ensuring they are robust, secure, and compliant while leading a high-performing team.
Responsibilities:
- Own the strategy, design, and execution of all platform integrations that connect Sully.ai’s AI medical employees with major EHRs, partner APIs, and healthcare data standards
- Build and scale a high-performing team, work closely with Product, Clinical, Security, and Customer Success, and ensure integrations are robust, secure, HIPAA compliant, and loved by customers
- Audit current integrations, reliability, and security posture. Define and publish SLAs and on-call runbooks
- Finalize a 12-month integration roadmap and target list across EHRs and partner APIs
- Ship an SDK and sample app MVP for partner onboarding. Kick off hiring for two key roles
- Deliver one net-new EHR connector to production or pilot, and set a repeatable template to hit Q4 target of 5 integrations
- Establish gold-standard CI/CD and observability: p95 deploy time under 15 minutes, error budget policy in place, on-call rotation running
- Reduce integration incident rate and MTTR by 30 percent through automated monitoring, alerting, and self-healing
- Define and drive a unified integrations strategy across FHIR, HL7, DICOM, and custom partner APIs
- Lead design and hands-on development of core connectors for Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, Meditech, and others
- Recruit, mentor, and grow an integrations and reliability engineering team. Partner cross-functionally to prioritize the roadmap and meet HIPAA and SOC 2 requirements
Requirements:
- 6+ years of software engineering, including 3+ years managing and scaling teams in high-growth early stage startups
- Deep integrations experience across industries with the ability to quickly master healthcare data standards and EHRs
- Strong system design skills: microservices, REST or gRPC, message buses like Kafka or RabbitMQ, and SQL or NoSQL design
- Hands-on coding in Python, Node.js, or TypeScript. Familiarity with React and TypeScript integration patterns is a plus
- CI/CD and cloud expertise: GitHub Actions or Jenkins, Docker and Kubernetes, AWS or GCP or Azure
- Security and compliance knowledge: HIPAA and SOC 2, security reviews, threat modeling
- Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience at a Series A or B AI or healthcare startup
- Working knowledge of ML, AI, and LLMs
