The Finance & Accounting Manager oversees all project financial operations, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and effective risk management while leading the site finance team and managing accounting functions.
Responsibilities:
- Review and manage project financial accounts and reporting to ensure compliance, controls, and timely issue escalation
- Maintain accuracy of project books, including general ledger, job cost, and commitment ledgers
- Ensure the site accounting team understands prime contract financial requirements
- Deliver all finance and accounting reports accurately and on time
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to support project goals
- Respond promptly and accurately to client and project management inquiries
- Drive effective cash management through timely invoicing of third-party costs
- Oversee direct-hire timekeeping and coordinate with BBS Service Center for payroll processing
- Liaise with Labor Relations and site management on labor agreements, incentives, and wage compliance
- Coordinate with Labor Relations and BBS Payroll on wage bulletins
- Manage accounts payable to ensure timely supplier payments and compliance with PO/subcontract terms
- Support Project Controls with financial analysis, cost estimates, forecasts, and ad hoc reporting
- Lead, train, and develop site finance team members
Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience
- Understanding of organizational structure, policies and procedures
- Experience and proficiency in standard accounting functions such as payroll, payables, receivables, billing and financial accounting. Highly skilled in analyzing and problem-solving techniques as applied to accounting
- Excellent skills in working with and communicating effectively orally and in writing with internal and external personnel
- Experience in supervisory activities such as distribution and control of work, performance evaluation, coaching, interviewing, and training and development of personnel
- Very proficient in computer applications and common software products. Able to develop complex spreadsheets with complex formulas, macros and ad hoc report writing
- Strong knowledge of accounting and financial issues including an understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, practices, and techniques
- Good Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively function in a matrix organization and manage complex high-volume activities
- Requires working knowledge of computer systems operations as applied to accounting functions at larger projects
- Ability to analyze financial data, provide early recognition of potential problems and provide effective and innovative thought processes in handling complex financial issues/problems
