Job Summary
This role is a Senior Payroll Associate within the CRH Americas Materials, Inc. Payroll Department. The position is responsible for gathering, entering, and verifying employee data required for payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely completion. It is a hybrid role and requires regular in‑office presence at our Alpharetta, GA location.
What Shared Services Does
A Shared Services Center (SSC) centralizes critical business processes, streamlining operations, reducing costs, and delivering consistent quality. By consolidating areas such as finance, procurement, payroll, and reporting, SSC eliminates duplication, frees time for strategic priorities, and fosters efficiency. SSC's primary functions include:
- O2C (Order-to-Cash): Manages the customer journey from order to payment, driving smoother revenue processes.
- R2R (Record-to-Report): Enables robust financial reporting and accounting.
- P2P (Procure-to-Pay): Ensures timely vendor payments and strong supplier relationships. Manages the Travel and Expense program.
- Center of Excellence: Drives innovation and continuous improvement.
- Payroll (Hire-to-Retire): Ensures accurate, compliant employee payments.
Shared Services enables companies to focus on growth and strategic goals while maintaining operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for timely and accurate processing of salaried payrolls for assigned divisions
- Ability to manually compute and validate gross-to-net payroll transactions
- Analysis and posting of payroll-related job-cost, general ledger, accounts payable, and labor detail
- Complete variance analysis of key payroll figures and data to proactively identify and correct system/processing errors
- Interpretation and proper set up of wage attachments (garnishments, child support, tax levies, bankruptcies)
- Serve as primary point of contact to division Payroll and Human Resource personnel
- Research and resolve routine payroll questions and issues
- Maintain professional demeanor at all times while representing the company
- Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education & Qualifications
- Associates degree or high school graduate with commensurate experience
- FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) required (CPP - Certified Payroll Professional - preferred)
- 5 years of multi-corporation, multi-state payroll processing (in-house payroll preferred)
- Demonstrated knowledge of payroll principles, wage and hour law, payroll taxes, and wage attachments
- Mainframe payroll application experience; Viewpoint experience a plus
- PC literate: Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, and mainframe payroll application experience
- Must be 18 years in age or older
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required
- Must be able to able to work under time constraints and ensure deadlines are met
- Able to read and/or follow written and verbal instructions and implement the same.

Work Environment
