Job Description
The Supplier Quality Engineer works under the accordance of Stäubli Corporation’s Quality Management System and ensure all aspects are respected within the purview for the role responsibilities. This position will manage, assess, and maintain supplier capabilities, deliveries and relationship on industrialized product ranges as well as new production growth. This role respects the standard and requirements internal to Stäubli and its customers for the assembly ranges including ensuring product traceability.
This role also supports functional operations within Quality ensuring collaboration and alignment between all aspects of Stäubli’s QMS and production. May be responsible for occasionally performing functions on laboratory equipment. Reviews reports on materials, processes, and products using variable or attribute measuring instruments and techniques to ensure conformance with the company’s quality standards while completing all necessary documents.
Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Supports the business plan and objectives by helping meet the requirements of divisional, customer, and overall business goals and strategy. Provides technical information and feedback to manufacturing suppliers ensuring that products delivered to customers meet established quality and safety standards as well as all other customer requirements. This position will work closely in conjunction, as a team, with Production, Customer Quality, Production Quality, Purchasing, Warehouse/Logistics, Planning, Sales Administration as well as other internal departments dependent on the responsibility.

Responsibilities and Objectives:
- Assess and audit new suppliers to ensure they meet quality standards and requirements
- Oversee and apply quality control procedures for incoming materials from suppliers
- Create and update quality documentation, including inspection plans and reports
- Collaborate with suppliers to enhance their processes and resolve quality concerns
- Lead root cause analyzes for supplier-related issues and develop corrective actions; ensure findings are communicated to internal teams
- Plan and implement corrective and preventive actions to address identified issues
- Initiate, monitor, and manage supplier 8D corrective actions when necessary
- Act as the primary point of contact for quality-related matters between the organization and suppliers
- Clearly communicate quality standards and expectations to suppliers
- Work with internal teams, including production, procurement, and engineering, to meet quality objectives
- Identify and implement improvements in supplier-related processes
- Support audits conducted by certifying bodies, customers, and regulators
- Collaborate with Procurement to manage supplier qualification activities
- Contribute to organizational change management activities
- Perform laboratory assessments when needed
- Review and analyze PPAP submissions to ensure thorough quality checks
- Take a proactive approach to improving productivity, quality, and safety
- Write clear and traceable reports summarizing findings and task-specific information
- Help quality control teams verify the quality of supplier products
- Assign and oversee corrective actions to efficiently address internal and external issues
- Solve problems by analyzing data and making informed decisions
- Collaborate across departments to resolve production or service challenges
- Coordinate with European and Asian teams to ensure alignment with global standards
- Accurately record supplier data in the appropriate format
- Maintain professional dress code suitable for the workplace
- Practice professional etiquette in verbal, phone, and email communications
- Focus on delivering high-quality, results-driven outcomes
- Work collaboratively with peers to complete additional tasks as needed
- Follow all safety, quality, and environmental guidelines
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 3-5 years’ experience in Quality Assurance or Engineering.
- In lieu of a degree, a high school diploma and 5+ years of recent Quality Engineering experience within a production or manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years related manufacturing experience or plant experience within Supply Chain and/or Operations.
- Expertise in metrology equipment, uses and limitations (required).
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings (required).
- Good knowledge of Geometric tolerances and dimensioning (required).
- Applied experience with basic quality tools such as RCCA methodologies, value-stream maps, flowcharts, PFMEA, and PDCA.
- Applied understanding of ISO 9001 or an equivalent system.
- Willingness to travel to supplier locations as necessary.
- Certification in quality management (e.g., CQE, CQA) is a plus.
- Must be willing and able to enter a cleanroom environment.
- Must possess the ability to substantiate and clearly communicate information to an international audience.
- Meet safety standards both within Stäubli as well as suppliers.
- Strong computer skills: particularly Microsoft Office 365 suite and SAP knowledge.
- Technical knowledge and experience (mechanical, electrical, software).
- Excellent listening and communication skills, curiosity, comprehension, self-motivation, problem-solving skills
- Ability to define own tasks and demonstrate solid work ethic and team oriented behavior.

Physical Requirements:
- Periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry objects
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
- Dexterity and accuracy as needed to operate equipment
Work schedule:
- Willingness to travel as required both domestically and internationally (up to 30%)
- Position reports on-site daily when not traveling.
- Reports to the Duncan, SC Office: M – F, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
