Direct Support Aide

Status:

Part-time (12-28 hours per week)

Compensation:

$15.00 per hour

Job Summary

A Direct Support Aide is an entry-level position that provides assistance to our Direct Support Professionals by working directly with them to provide engagement and non-medical support in the most empathetic way to those we support while promoting a safe and healthy environment to enhance the daily lives of all.

Job Details:

• Participate in recreational activities with the individuals based on their interests and needs
• Provide socialization and engagement
• Attend and assist individuals at community outings
• Prepare and make meals
• Clean up and organize areas
• Assist with laundry including putting away and organizing
• Promote a safe and healthy environment in homes and program areas
• Assist with all other duties assigned

Qualifications:

The position offers career development to a Direct Support Professional or other positions within Sunshine with a focus towards applicants who have an interest in a career in social services, psychology, and the medical field including nursing. In addition, this position is ideal for applicants who have worked in the medical field and direct care prior and are looking for a less demanding/physical part-time position.

• 16 years or older
• Strong interest in supporting others
• Pass criminal background and drug screen
• Compassion, empathy, reliability, and consistency

About Sunshine:

Sunshine Communities, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Northwest Ohio supporting individuals with developmental disabilities through residential, vocational, clinical, therapeutic, and recreational services.
