The Project Engineer at PEC plays a vital role in the successful delivery of multiple engineering projects, involving design, coordination, and oversight of engineering solutions that meet client specifications and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of engineering projects, ensuring compliance with quality assurance policies, standards, and project specifications
- Prepare, review, and approve engineering plans, drawings, and technical reports
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals, cost estimates, and feasibility studies to support business development efforts
- Perform engineering design calculations manually and using software tools, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements
- Coordinate with internal and external design teams to produce construction documents and specifications aligned with building codes and industry standards
- Serve as a technical advisor to project managers, identifying potential risks and recommending mitigation strategies
- Organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and resource allocation
- Conduct quality control reviews at key project milestones to maintain high standards of deliverables
- Mentor and train less experienced engineers and support staff to foster professional growth within the team
- Participate in business development activities, including client relationship management and proposal development
- Stay updated on industry trends, codes, and regulations to ensure compliance and incorporate best practices into project work
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution
- At least four years of relevant professional experience
- Valid Professional Engineering (PE) license in the practice location
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as AutoDesk Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, RISA/RAM, and Enercalc
- Familiarity with local regulations, permitting processes, and design standards
- Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Solid understanding of structural design principles, including load analysis, seismic and wind considerations, and materials such as steel, concrete, masonry, and wood
