Position: Line Cook  

Reports to: Executive Chef, Chef de Cuisine, Sous Chef 

Salary: $18.00-$20.00

Kneads Bakeshop is an artisan bakery, café & market in a state-of-the-art flagship facility in Harbor East Baltimore. Kneads is a passion project by H&S Family of Bakeries to bring premium artisan baked goods, pastries, and food to our communities. Our wholesale distribution serves the DC/Maryland/Virginia region. 

The H&S Family of Bakeries includes H&S Bakery, Northeast Foods, and Schmidt Baking Company to make up America’s largest family-owned variety bakery, proudly providing specialty baked goods to major industry retailers and small businesses throughout the United States. From humble beginnings, one small bakery in Baltimore has grown to become a staple in our community. We want to combine H&S’s history with the new age of artisan craft, creating a one-of-a-kind brand and experience, giving a modern face to H&S Bakery. We want people to see it, touch it, and taste it, to have a full sensory experience. 

Position Summary: 

We are looking for a great Line Cook that enjoys a fast-paced, high volume, high quality, creative and fun environment. Plan, prep, set up and provide quality service in all areas of food production for menu items and specials in accordance with departmental quality standards and recipes. Maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment. This position description incorporates the core responsibilities of the job. It recognizes that other related duties not specifically mentioned might also be performed, and that not all responsibilities may be carried out depending on operational needs.  

Role and Responsibilities:  

• Manage your station on the line with professionalism, cleanliness, and excellence in quality. 
• Must have excellent attention to detail, and accuracy with controlled speed/tempo. 
• Clear thinker, remain calm and resolve problems using good judgment 
• Work well under pressure of meeting production schedules and timelines for client food orders. 
• Operate, clean and maintain all equipment required in job functions. 
• Ability to follow and execute recipes accurately. 
• Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team with a great attitude and support. 
• Effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral form. 
• Strictly abide by state sanitation/health regulations. 
• Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment and tools only as intended, properly and safely. 
• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies and procedures.  
• 2+ years in a Line Cook role. 
• High volume, scratch, or upscale kitchen experience.

Additional Responsibilities:  

• Adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the Bakery, including, but not limited to, those contained in the employee handbook. 
• Kneads operates 7 days a week. Department schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands and employees may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work. 

Education and Experience:  

• Previous restaurant experience. 

Skills and Abilities:  

• Ability to stand and walk for a long period of time. 
• Ability to carry and lift heavy objects. 
• Good oral communication skills. 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 
• Organization and time management skills. 
• Cook Experience 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
• Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills.
