CMC Foreman RDX - Road Crossing

The RDX Road Crossings Foreman is responsible for overseeing field crews performing construction, maintenance, and repair of road crossings, culverts, and access roads in remote Alaska locations. This position provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of daily field operations to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and client requirements. The Foreman focuses on planning work activities, supervising crews, coordinating resources, and maintaining safety and regulatory compliance while supporting operational goals on the North Slope.

• Oversee the installation, repair, and maintenance of road crossings, ice roads, elevated crossings, culverts, and related structures.
• Ensure compliance with engineering specifications, environmental guidelines, and state/federal regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA).
• closely with project managers, engineers, surveyors, and environmental teams.
• Coordinate road closures, flagging operations, traffic flow, and logistics for heavy haul or oversize loads.
• Communicate conditions and progress updates to leadership in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including daily logs, inspection reports, and incident reports.
• Monitor crew performance, ensure adherence to work plans, and maintain productivity in challenging field conditions.
• Maintain 100% “Safety Standards and Accountability” in all areas or mandatory/regulatory requirements, which include:
• Maintain compliance with the required HSE Training.
• Taking necessary action when behaviors or conditions around you may be unsafe.
• Reporting and addressing all potential safety concerns/incidents/issues promptly and willingly participate and assist in any investigation that may relate to a safety incident.
• Performs work in strict compliance with permitting requirements, Alaska Safety Handbook (ASH) Standards and other compliance-oriented directives.
• Participating in safety meetings, working safely, and maintaining a safe work environment as an employee and representative of CCI Industrial Services.
• Document and record any injury or near miss incident that may occur while you are working.
• Demonstrate and promote safe work practices by participating in JSA reviews, pre-job walkdowns and safety START card preparations covering work activities and materials required by the company and the client.
• Promote and participate in Safety Programs.
• Other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Thorough understanding of road grading, compaction, culvert installation, drainage management, and roadbed stabilization in Arctic and sub‑Arctic conditions.
• Working knowledge of equipment such as graders, dozers, loaders, excavators, and compactors used in crossing construction and maintenance.
• Knowledge of flagging operations, road closures, signage requirements, and coordination for heavy haul routes.
• Understanding of tundra travel rules, spill prevention, wildlife interaction protocols, and minimal‑impact construction methods.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• NSTC card.
• 3-5 years previous supervisory or lead experience.
• Strong understanding of cold‑weather construction practices and Arctic/remote work protocols.
• Proficiency with heavy equipment operation and basic mechanical knowledge. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience on North Slope or similar remote rotational worksites.
• Familiarity with ice road construction or tundra travel regulations.
• Certifications such as OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, MSHA, NSTC, or HAZWOPER. 

Work Environment:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.  The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.

Position may involve exposure to extremely hostile weather conditions at times while working outdoors.  This position may involve working with potentially hazardous materials and waste.

A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee’s ability to perform to the job standard. • MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service.  Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet.
• LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from wait level to shoulder height and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet.
• HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
• VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.
• RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurements will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.
