Software Engineer

Housing.Cloud builds software for universities to manage student housing, focusing on roommate matching and housing assignments. They are seeking a Software Engineer to develop product features across the stack and ensure system reliability during high-traffic periods.

Responsibilities:

• Building product features across the stack (Next.js, React, TypeScript)
• Designing APIs and backend systems with tRPC
• Building reliable background jobs and async workflows
• Working with queues, event processing, and distributed tasks
• Shipping fast iterations based on real customer feedback
• Processing large housing assignment runs without slowing down the system
• Designing event-driven flows for housing selection, room changes, and waitlists
• Handling bursts of traffic when selection windows open
• Building internal tools that help housing teams manage thousands of residents

Requirements:

• Strong React and modern TypeScript experience
• Comfortable working across frontend and backend
• Experience with Next.js or similar frameworks
• Familiarity with queues, background jobs, or event-driven systems
• Someone who already relies heavily on AI tools while coding
• Engineers who like shipping quickly and owning outcomes
• tRPC experience
• Startup experience
• Experience designing async or distributed systems
