Distribution Worker - (Causal Worker)

The Opportunity – Distribution Worker- (Causal Worker).

Post location:  Gaza Field Office.

Contract Duration and Level of Effort: 6 months.

 

ROLE PURPOSE: 

This position aims to facilitate and support the distribution of nutrition supplies at designated nutrition sites, ensuring that beneficiaries receive the required portions as part of Save the Children’s nutrition programs. The Distribution Worker is responsible for the smooth implementation of distribution activities, including receiving daily supplies from the warehouse, distributing nutritional items according to defined portions, preparing distribution reports, and monitoring stock levels to ensure a continuous and accurate supply of nutrition commodities. Distribution Workers are also required to adhere to and ensure compliance with Save the Children’s policies and procedures.

 

SCOPE OF ROLE: 

Reports to: Nutrition Program Officer.

Staff reporting to this post: None.

 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

• Receive nutrition supplies and related items from the warehouse according to daily allocations.
• Verify quantities and quality of received items, ensuring they match the delivery orders.
• Distribute nutrition supplies to beneficiaries according to approved portions and distribution plans.
• Ensure distribution is organized, fair, and efficient.
• Manage crowds during distribution to maintain order, safety, and a smooth flow of beneficiaries.
• Prepare daily distribution reports, including distributed quantities and remaining stock.
• Document any observations or issues related to distribution or stock management.
• Monitor stock levels at the nutrition site and ensure supplies are neither depleted nor spoiled.
• Coordinate with the nutrition officer to replenish supplies as needed.
• Adhere to hygiene and safety standards during handling, storage, and distribution of nutrition supplies.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

• High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential:

• Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
• Familiar with warehouse reporting and record-keeping.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Builds and maintains effective relationships, with their team, colleagues, and stakeholders.

Desirable: 

• Any previous experience in working within the Health & Nutrition programs.
• Any previous in a warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment.
