Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with strong expertise in Playwright (TypeScript) and Selenium (Java) to strengthen our Quality Engineering practice. The ideal candidate brings deep automation skills, solid
engineering discipline, and the ability to mentor functional product specialists while driving an automation-first, shift-left testing culture.
This role is hands-on, collaborative, and central to scaling high-quality test automation across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
Test Automation & Framework Ownership
Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites using Playwright (TypeScript) and Selenium (Java).
Contribute to and enhance the enterprise automation framework - ensuring scalability, reusability, and maintainability.
Implement advanced capabilities such as parallel execution, test orchestration, efficient waits, and dynamic test data.
Leverage Playwright MCP Server and AI-based automation accelerators to reduce script development time and improve velocity.
Drive shift-left testing through early collaboration with developers, architects, and product teams.
Champion an API-first testing approach, ensuring service-level validations precede UI tests.
Participate in feature grooming, DoR (Definition of Ready) validations, and ensure automation hooks are defined early.
Cross Function Collaboration
Work closely with Product Testing Specialists, Dev, DevOps, and Architecture teams to ensure holistic testing.
Mentor functional testers on automation practices and support their upskilling journey.
Support RCA discussions, quality reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
CI/CD Engineering Practice
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines ( Jenkins etc.).
Ensure stable, fast, and reliable pipelines with proper logging, reporting, and observability.
Drive code review discipline, automation coverage improvements, and engineering best practices.
Required skill set and Practice
✔ Core Technology Skills
Strong hands-on expertise in Playwright with TypeScript (mandatory).
Solid experience with Selenium WebDriver; Java skills are a plus. Familiarity with automation patterns and best practices is desirable.
Preferred: Backend engineering experience with .NET and familiarity with major test frameworks such as xUnit or JUnit, with an understanding of their role in the SDLC.
Foster a culture of test-driven development throughout the entire software development lifecycle.
Deep understanding of automation architecture, page object models, fixtures, mocks, and reusable components.
Experience with API testing using REST tools or Playwright API module.
Strong Git experience and exposure to branching strategies, versioning, and code quality tools.
Experience with Playwright MCP Server or AI-assisted automation tooling.
Exposure to enterprise-grade automation frameworks.
CI/CD integration experience: Azure DevOps / Jenkins / GitHub Actions.
Expertise in parallel execution, test performance optimization, and pipeline stability.
Strong debugging skills using logs, traces, browser tools, and network analysis.
