About this role
SEH is an employee-owned engineering company dedicated to building a better world. They are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design HVAC and plumbing systems, perform calculations, and prepare construction documents while collaborating with a talented team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design of heating, cooling, ventilation, and exhaust systems for commercial buildings
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations
- Select equipment (AHUs, RTUs, boilers, chillers, pumps, VAVs, etc.)
- Develop ductwork and piping layouts
- Support energy efficiency and code compliance efforts
- Assist in the design of domestic water, sanitary, storm, and specialty piping systems
- Size piping, pumps, water heaters, and fixtures
- Prepare plumbing plans, riser diagrams, and schedules
- Coordinate plumbing layouts with other trades
- Prepare construction documents using AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Review submittals and respond to RFIs
- Participate in field visits and construction coordination
- Work under senior engineers to develop technical skills
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Basic understanding of building systems and mechanical principles
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Experience with load calculation software (e.g., HAP, Trace, EnergyPlus)
- Exposure to plumbing design standards and codes
- EIT certification or progress toward PE licensure
- Experience in consulting engineering or construction environments
- 0–4 years of experience in commercial HVAC and/or plumbing design (internship experience acceptable)
