Job Description
Provides journey-level customer service within the Central Records Unit of the Information Services Section in the Information Technology Services Division. The Central Records Unit manages a comprehensive collection of historical Texas oil and natural gas well records in hard copy, microfilm, and digital formats. Responsibilities include delivering external customer service support and responding to public inquiries regarding information and state services. The Records Researcher maintains and organizes official records and assists customers with locating and retrieving records across multiple storage formats. Work is performed under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

Work Environment:
Primarily indoors with heating and cooling regulated in a general office environment. The noise level in the work environment is generally low to moderate, with occasional customer conversations in a public area. May work with old documents that contain dust and other materials.
Physical Requirements:
The physical requirements described here are representative of those required of an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Ability to reach high and low; open, close, and retrieve files from file cabinets as well as operate a computer keyboard and appropriate office equipment. The position requires the ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, or stand for long periods of time, lift up to 30 lbs., open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
Work Hours: Standard office hours for Commission employees are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our agency offers alternative schedules for employees, provided they do not adversely affect operations or service levels and standard hours of operation are maintained. The Commission may also offer telework in accordance with the agency’s approved Telework Plan. Alternate work schedules may be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview process.
