At the Ohio Department of Veterans Services, we…
Conduct outreach to veterans and provides training and oversight to the 88 County Veterans Service Offices.
Coordinate programs and operations with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, which provides benefits to Ohio veterans.
Work with the Ohio General Assembly and Congressional representatives to craft legislation in support of veterans and their families at the state and federal levels.
Communicate and coordinate with other state agencies concerning veterans’ programs and support to veterans.
Operate the Ohio Veterans Homes in Sandusky and Georgetown which are open to Ohio-resident veterans who served in periods of armed conflicts.
Manage one federal education-related program: The State Approving Agency.
Host several veterans’ ceremonies each year including the Governor’s Wreath-Laying Ceremony which honors Ohio's killed in action and the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
Maintain custodianship of more than 1.9 million veterans’ records dating back to World War II.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Serves as member of the ODVS Senior Team (e.g., attends leadership meetings, participates in strategic and operational planning, provides input on decisions regarding policy, budgeting, and resource utilization).
2. Advises Director & senior staff concerning compliance and deficiency identification, collaborate on compliance issues with Superintendent and others to track the QAPI elements to and other compliance related data to improve condition and reporting.
3. Develops, implements and monitors indicators for compliance management; identifies and develops improvement goals, initiatives, and other projects related to compliance; analyzes proposed & actual projects related to health information management. This role will use quality improvement methods to standardize processes and structure to reduce variation, achieve predictable results, and improve outcomes for patients, healthcare systems, and the department.
4. Ensures operations are following state and federal law, regulations and agreements. Advises Director & senior staff concerning compliance and deficiency identification, collaborate on compliance issues with Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and Nursing Home Administrators to track the QAPI elements to and other compliance related data to improve condition and reporting.
5. Directs mock surveying, health and safety inspections with quality improvement tracking and designed activities to ensure highest in compliant quality care.
6. Develops, implements and monitors indicators for compliance management, and other projects related to compliance; analyzes proposed & actual projects related to health information management

Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree required in a relevant field; Masters preferred
· Two or more years’ experience in regulatory compliance in healthcare facilities
· Two or more years’ experience in supervisory / leadership role.
· Experience in relevant statutes, regulations, CMS & ODH Survey, monitoring and/or auditing, QI/QA
· Travel up to 25% of the time between facilities.
