Summary
Assist and support the Unit Director with overall daily operations of the designated Clubhouse, with the primary concern for programs and service delivery, supervision and training of staff, facilities management, community relations and membership administration. In the absence of the Unit Director, the Assistant Director will assume responsibility for the daily operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Leadership
Support the Unit Director in establishing Unit programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success and that create a club environment that facilitates achievement of Youth Development Outcomes. Help provide a healthy and safe environment, ensuring facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.
Strategic Planning
Assist in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of overall programs, services and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and member needs and interests. Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation as requested by the Unit Director.
Resource Management
Assist in managing Unit financial resources and helps control expenditures against budget.
Help ensure administrative and operational systems are in place to maintain the operation of the physical properties and equipment of the Club, including use of facilities by outside groups.
Assist in recruiting, managing and providing career development opportunities for unit staff and volunteers. Assist Unit Director in conducting regular staff meetings.
Partnership Development
Support the Unit Director in developing partnerships with parents, schools, community leaders and organizations.
Marketing and Public Relations
Work with the Unit Director to develop and maintain effective public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services and activities within the Club and the community.
Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Provide support to Unit Boards as assigned by Unit Director. Maintain regular contact with members as needed to discipline, advise, and counsel.
External: Assist Unit Director in maintaining contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize Club.

Boys & Girls Clubs are often stressful, busy, and noisy environments. The Assistant Director is expected to work in situations where many member and facilities related activities take place at the same time.
