The Territory Manager is responsible for driving sales growth and strengthening customer relationships within an assigned geographic territory in the automotive refinish and collision repair industry.
Our company operates within the PBE (Paint, Body & Equipment) distribution space, supplying professional collision repair facilities, automotive body shops, and industrial refinish operations with the products and technical expertise required to restore vehicles to manufacturer standards. This includes automotive coatings, refinishing systems, abrasives, spray equipment, and shop consumables used by professional painters and technicians.
Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, the Territory Manager serves as both a sales professional and trusted technical advisor to customers. Success in this role requires a strong ability to build relationships, identify customer needs, provide product solutions, and support shops with training and technical guidance to improve productivity and finishing results.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Territory Development
- Execute a structured territory sales strategy to grow revenue and expand market share.
- Conduct regular sales calls and business reviews with existing and prospective customers.
- Develop and maintain a consistent call schedule to ensure proactive customer engagement.
- Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts and open new customer relationships.
- Prepare sales presentations, proposals, pricing quotations, and business plans.
- Participate in product demonstrations, training sessions, and technical presentations with customers and manufacturer representatives.
- Utilize vendor resources and promotional programs to maximize sales opportunities.
- Maintain accurate sales call reports, forecasts, and pipeline updates.
- Attend and actively participate in company sales meetings and training programs.
Customer Relationship Management
- Serve as a trusted advisor to customers regarding product selection, application techniques, and best practices in automotive refinishing.
- Build long-term relationships with shop owners, managers, painters, and technicians.
- Provide technical guidance on product application, surface preparation, and finishing systems.
- Assist customers with inventory management and product planning.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries and provide support via phone, email, and in-person visits.
- Investigate and resolve customer concerns in accordance with company and Quality Management System (QMS) procedures.
- Support customers with color verification and field color formulation when necessary.
- Ensure accurate documentation for consigned inventory and equipment.
Market & Competitive Awareness
- Gather and analyze territory and market intelligence.
- Monitor competitor activity and identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.
- Understand and communicate the company’s competitive advantages and product value.
- Identify trends in the automotive refinish market and recommend growth strategies.
Administrative & Operational Responsibilities
- Manage territory expenses responsibly while remaining within budget guidelines.
- Submit required reports, forecasts, and documentation in a timely manner.
- Maintain working knowledge of company systems, policies, and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
- Support store operations when needed, including assisting with customer service and order processing.
- Operate vehicles in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in territory sales, outside sales, or account management.
- Experience in automotive refinish, PBE distribution, collision repair, coatings, or related industries strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to grow sales revenue and develop long-term customer relationships.
- Strong understanding of consultative sales techniques and territory management.
- Ability to analyze sales performance and utilize key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CRM experience such as Salesforce is a plus.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Usage of personal vehicle, for company business, requires appropriate insurance coverage guidelines per company policy.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry 25–50 lbs frequently and up to 75–100 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, stoop, and climb as required when visiting customer locations.
- Ability to distinguish color variations and shades.
- Ability to demonstrate coatings and related products using spray equipment and other application tools.
- Must be able to tolerate non-toxic paint odors and wear appropriate safety equipment.
