Principal Data & Analytics Solution Owner (E6082)-260019:KNW-D80
Description
Job Summary The Principal Data & Analytics Solution Owner will lead the design and delivery of data solutions that power decision-making across our organization. The Principal Data & Analytics Solution Owner will serve as the solution owner and strategic partner for key data and analytics initiatives — shaping the vision, defining the roadmap, prioritizing features, and overseeing design, build, and implementation. This person will partner closely with data engineering, data architecture, data science, data governance, and broader IT teams (including security, cloud infrastructure, etc.) within our agile/scrum framework. This role is ideal for someone who is equally comfortable discussing joint strategies and data models as they are about business KPIs, value realization, and stakeholder expectations. This is a senior, highly visible role for someone who has deep experience across the data landscape (data architecture, data engineering, analytics, dashboarding/reporting, and data governance). This role requires strategic thinking and an ability to work directly with business and functional leadership to unpack business goals, value drivers, and desired outcomes. A successful Principal Data & Analytics Solution Owner can translate complex business needs into clear, actionable data products and solutions, and then own those solutions from end to end.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and own the strategic vision and roadmap for key data and analytics programs and offerings (e.g., executive dashboard programs, self-service analytics capabilities, AI-driven analytics).
Partner with business leaders to clarify the “why” behind requests, identify value opportunities, and shape high-impact data initiatives.
Define clear product outcomes, KPIs, and success metrics that are aligned with business objectives.
Continuously scan the organization for emerging needs and opportunities to reuse or extend existing data products and analytic products.
Act as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams.
Facilitate discovery sessions, workshops, and stakeholder interviews to gain a deep understanding of business processes, pain points, and decision-making flows.
Translate business needs into well-structured problem statements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and high-level solution concepts.
Challenge and refine requirements to ensure feasibility, scalability, and alignment with the broader data strategy.
Own the end-to-end design of data solutions: from source systems and data integration through to data models, semantics, and user-facing analytics.
Collaborate with data architects on conceptual and logical data models, integration patterns, and platform choices.
Work with data engineering to define ingestion patterns, transformations, and performance requirements.
Partner with analytics / BI teams on visualization standards, dashboard designs, and self-service models.
Collaborate with data science to integrate predictive and prescriptive models into the product.
Work closely with security & cloud infrastructure teams, as well as broader IT, to align with security, compliance, infrastructure, and operational standards.
Ensure solutions are usable, reliable, performant, and maintainable.
Serve as the Solution Owner in agile/scrum teams, managing and prioritizing the product backlog.
Write clear, testable user stories with acceptance criteria and maintain a well-groomed backlog.
Prioritize work using transparent criteria (value, risk, complexity, dependencies).
Make trade-off decisions between scope, timelines, and quality, communicating impacts to stakeholders.
Participate actively in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives to drive continuous improvement.
Help break down silos and promote shared understanding of data products and goals.
Ensure products adhere to data governance, privacy, and compliance requirements.
Define and promote data quality standards and monitor product-level data quality metrics.
Act as a steward for critical data domains, supporting consistent definitions and usage across the organization.
Drive user adoption and engagement by partnering with training, communication, and change management teams to ensure seamless integration and effective implementation.
Develop enablement materials (e.g., demos, guides, best practices) to help business users get value from data products.
Gather feedback, measure adoption, and iterate on products to improve usability and impact.
