Serac designs and manufactures advanced filling, capping, and packaging machinery used by major industries worldwide. They are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer II to design electrical systems, program machine controls, and lead electrical functions from concept to commissioning.
Responsibilities:
- Lead electrical design from initial requirements through testing and delivery for custom and standard packaging machinery
- Develop, program, and test Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI code (Rockwell Studio 5000)
- Design, update, and manage electrical schematics and panel layouts using EPLAN P8 in compliance with standards
- Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) in PLM and ensure purchasing accuracy
- Partner cross-functionally with mechanical, project engineering, and automation teams during assembly and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
- Update and maintain documentation for modifications made during assembly or field installations
- Serve as the primary electrical contact post-machine sale, overseeing startup and ensuring successful handoff
- Collaborate with SERAC France to align standards, explore best practices, and integrate European design principles
Requirements:
- Have a strong background in industrial automation and packaging machinery
- Can create PLC programs from scratch in Allen-Bradley Studio 5000
- Have working knowledge of EPLAN P8 and experience producing detailed panel layouts
- Understand UL 508A, NFPA, and electrical safety standards
- Enjoy hands-on troubleshooting, testing, and problem-solving
- Are highly organized, proactive, and able to lead projects from design to completion
- PLC / HMI Platforms: Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Studio 5000) – Required
- CAD Tools: EPLAN P8 (required)
- Safety / Codes: UL 508A, NFPA 79, NEC familiarity required
- Systems Knowledge: Electrical schematics, motion control, I/O, servo drives, and panel design principles
- Software: Microsoft Office, QAD, SmarTeam (can be learned onsite)
- Languages: English required
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in machine controls design and PLC programming, particularly with Allen-Bradley systems
- Proven ability to design, document, and implement electrical hardware and automation logic in manufacturing settings
- B&R and Siemens experience – Highly desirable
- AutoCAD Electrical (nice to have)
- French a plus
