Crossing Hurdles is seeking a Data Engineer I - Sensor Data Specialist to join their team. The role involves designing data collection studies, monitoring data quality, and analyzing datasets to support research insights.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute data collection studies in collaboration with research and product teams to capture high-quality biosensor datasets
- Monitor and maintain data quality across multiple sensor streams, implementing validation, cleaning, and specialized monitoring processes
- Debug firmware and software issues related to sensor data acquisition and ensure reliable hardware data collection
- Execute and optimize distributed computing workflows for large-scale dataset analysis and metric computation
- Build and maintain benchmarking tools and evaluation pipelines used to assess model performance
- Analyze experimental results, generate hypotheses, and interpret findings from data collection experiments
- Develop visualizations that support research insights and team decision-making
- Manage and process large, high-dimensional datasets generated from sensor-based systems
Requirements:
- Academic background in computer science, electrical engineering, statistics, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline
- Professional experience performing data extraction, transformation, and visualization using Python and SQL
- Experience working with hardware sensors and data collection systems involving real-world human data
- Knowledge of signal processing techniques related to time-series signals or medical imaging systems
- Experience handling large and complex datasets in research or engineering environments
- Strong debugging capabilities across data pipelines and firmware/software interfaces
- Familiarity with scientific computing and visualization tools such as NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Seaborn, or similar frameworks
