Microsoft is looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager to join Azure's Open Source Ecosystem team. This role involves engaging with the open source community, creating strategies for collaboration, and enhancing Microsoft's engagement in open source projects and nonprofits.
Responsibilities:
- Engage across the open source community and across Microsoft
- Work successfully across large, diverse organizations which may not always be aligned, both externally and internally
- Listen to different perspectives and then creating a unifying strategy for engaging with the community
- Through community engagements, increase Microsoft's ability to leverage open source tools, practices, and projects as part of our broader business
- Communicate the business value of Microsoft engagement in open source projects and nonprofits clearly to leadership
- Create a culture that creates clarity and sets high goals as the open source community is large and complex
- Since our work is done in collaboration with our partners and customers in the open source community, ensure we are humble and supportive in sharing the specific customer problems we're trying to solve as well as why we've chosen our particular strategy
- Be pragmatic and look at complex technical problems and create clarity, focusing on building solutions that are operable in today's public cloud environments
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
- Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience
- 8+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
- 5+ years experience working in the open source or open standards community
- Ideal candidates will take joy in working with the open source community and have a track record of successful collaboration with this community in the past
- Experience with authoring and producing technical whitepapers and presentations
- Experience with non-Microsoft platforms and technologies
- Think big and have a track record for building virtual teams that deliver novel solutions
