Job Summary
Support internal CSX attorneys and external CSX counsel in litigation and corporate compliance and regulatory matters. Demonstrated knowledge of managing legal matter workflow to ensure tasks are handled promptly and effectively. Proven self-starter with good organization, detail-orientation and multi-tasking skills. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and a professional and positive attitude are required.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive legal support to in-house and outside counsel on litigation, compliance, corporate governance and regulatory matters
• Work collaboratively with Legal Operations team, other paralegals and internal business partners
• Preserve and collect relevant information from a variety of sources for providing accurate and consistent discovery responses
• Assist in reviewing and drafting discovery responses and other legal documents relating to transactions, claims, settlements, litigation, compliance and regulatory matters
• Provide support to inside and outside counsel for significant events such as depositions, witness interviews, regulatory and court hearings and other special projects
• Conduct research, collect and analyze data to help with decision-making and meeting of organizational goals
• Administrative support of department as assigned
• Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED
• 5 or more years of related paralegal or legal support experience
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) with 3 or more years of related paralegal experience.
• Experience supporting attorneys in litigation, compliance, investigations, or corporate legal matters
• Paralegal certification from one of the following:
- NALA (CP/ACP)
- An ABA approved paralegal program
- Florida Registered Paralegal designation
Knowledge and Skills
• Knowledge of e-discovery rules, practices and procedures
• Knowledge of SharePoint, PowerPoint and litigation support database programs
• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe PDF
• Proficient technical and organizational skills
• Strong Interpersonal and written communication skills
• Ability to meet deadlines set by inside and outside counsel and internal business partners
• Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel and effectively present information
• Ability to remain flexible and prioritize work in constantly changing work environment and under deadlines
