We are seeking a highly motivated R&D / Product Development Technician IV with experience in laser cutting and laser welding technologies to support our product development and manufacturing teams. In this role, you will work closely with engineers and cross-functional teams to support the transformation of raw materials into finished components through prototype development, precision fabrication, and process validation activities.
The ideal candidate will have experience operating laser processing equipment, interpreting CNC programs and engineering drawings, and performing precision assembly work under microscope magnification. This position plays a key role in supporting product development activities, process stability verification, and production transfer operations.
This role operates within a regulated environment and must comply with ISO 13485 requirements and the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS).
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot laser cutting and laser welding systems used for prototype development and precision manufacturing.
• Support product development and engineering teams in building and testing prototypes during R&D activities.
• Perform machine setups, changeovers, and process adjustments in accordance with engineering specifications and production schedules.
• Assist in transforming raw materials into finished components through precision processing and assembly operations.
• Interpret and follow CNC programs, engineering drawings, and component prints to ensure accurate fabrication of parts.
• Conduct micro-assembly operations using microscopes and precision tools, including tweezers, to assemble or handle small and delicate components.
• Perform in-process inspections and quality checks according to established procedures and document results in accordance with quality requirements.
• Support process validation, development testing, and engineering trials to verify product design and process stability.
• Assist with production transfer activities once design verification and process validation have been successfully completed.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing issues related to laser processing, assembly operations, or equipment performance.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to implement process improvements and corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate process documentation, inspection reports, and technical records in compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS).
• Follow all safety procedures and regulatory requirements while working with laser systems and manufacturing equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting on laser systems and related manufacturing equipment as required.

Education
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Associate degree (AA) in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field preferred
Experience
• Minimum 4–5 years of related work experience in manufacturing, product development, or precision assembly environments
• Experience working with laser processing technologies such as laser cutting or laser welding preferred
• Experience performing micro-assembly under microscope magnification and handling small components is highly desirable
• Experience working in medical device or regulated manufacturing environments preferred
Technical Skills
• Ability to read and interpret CNC programs
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and component prints
• Familiarity with precision manufacturing processes and equipment setups
• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and ISO standards such as ISO 13485
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to write routine reports, documentation, and technical correspondence
• Ability to analyze problems and recommend practical technical solutions
• Demonstrates initiative, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $67,000 – $100,500 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
