Job Description
PROCON is seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer Contractor to support and enhance the technology systems that power our growing organization. This senior-level individual contributor plays a critical role in designing, maintaining, and securing our IT infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.
In this role, you will work across systems administration, networking, cybersecurity, and cloud technologies to ensure our infrastructure is reliable, secure, and optimized for performance. You will collaborate with internal teams, support strategic technology initiatives, and serve as a technical expert within the IT department.

Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and optimize on-premises and cloud infrastructure including servers, storage, virtualization platforms, and Microsoft 365/Azure environments.
- Manage and support enterprise networking including switches, firewalls, wireless systems, VPN, routing, DNS, and DHCP.
- Maintain system configurations, updates, and patch strategies across infrastructure environments.
- Oversee backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity and data protection.
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, Azure AD, identity management, and user access provisioning.
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity technologies such as endpoint protection, MFA, SIEM, email security, and vulnerability management systems.
- Monitor infrastructure and network activity for potential security threats and assist with incident response.
- Evaluate infrastructure and cybersecurity risks and recommend improvements to strengthen performance and security.
- Troubleshoot and resolve advanced infrastructure, network, and system issues.
- Lead or assist with infrastructure-focused projects including system upgrades, cloud migrations, and network improvements.
- Document architecture, configurations, and technical procedures to support operational consistency.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex technical challenges.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to maintain up-time and service quality.
- Provide technical guidance and informal mentoring to other members of the IT team.
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field preferred.
- 4–7 years of progressive experience in systems administration, network engineering, or infrastructure security.
- Strong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Azure AD.
- Experience supporting virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud services.
- Advanced knowledge of networking concepts, including VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, routing, DNS, DHCP, and wireless infrastructure.
- Experience implementing and managing cybersecurity tools and best practices.
- Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery technologies.
- Experience with scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, CySA+, Microsoft, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CISSP, or similar preferred.
- Experience supporting multi-site or remote workforce environments preferred.
- Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments preferred.
