Job Summary:
Join the Facilities Management Department on the University of Colorado Denver Campus as a PMT-II Facilities Maintenance HVAC Technician (Housing). This is a full-time state classified position. The PMT-II Facilities Maintenance HVAC Technician position: On-call after hours (which includes weekends and holidays to support 24 hours a day, 7 days- a-week operation. Maintain all facilities and operating systems in safe and efficient working order. The Refrigeration Technician position operates, monitors, services and/or repairs a wide array of refrigeration equipment, HVAC systems, and associate hardware for all CU Denver campus buildings. It responds to emergency calls pertaining to HVAC and refrigeration problems, and emergencies throughout the campus, and ensures the safest and most efficient operation and training of personnel for the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) systems at CU Denver. The position handles work requests related work for occupants owned HVAC/R systems. You will record issues and make work reports via email, log your work in CMMS and monitor building systems in BAS and perform various other duties and tasks as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform corrective and preventive maintenance as assigned.
Effective Communication with vendors and contractors
Maintain reports and inventory via electronic records and database.
Operate university vehicles to transport necessary tools/equipment to work sites.
Respond to alarms/emergencies and make resolution. Set priorities based on urgency.
Make necessary changes in BAS to various building systems operating parameters.
Collaborate with team members to improve team performance.
Work closely with the supervisor to implement leadership directives.
Participate in after-hours call-back rotation.
Work Location:
Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Denver, Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess a current CFC Universal Certification, in order to work with CFC’s, HCFC’s, and HFC’s
Four years of progressively responsible experience in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration industry, with a minimum of two-year experience working with process chillers
Substitutions:
Successful completion of a formalized heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration apprenticeship program, or higher level, non- correspondence course work in the same fields from an accredited vocational school or university may substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience entering, updating and modifying information in a database.
Experience in refrigeration that includes inspecting, replacing, adjusting and calibrating electronic and refrigeration controls and components.
Experience in performing mathematical functions to correctly and accurately calculate amounts of refrigerants used.
Experience in performing preventive maintenance and repairs to HVAC/R systems and components.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience that demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with persons of diverse backgrounds
Experience that demonstrates strong customer service skills
Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
Ability to communicate effectively in written form which includes the ability to check for typographical, grammatical and spelling errors.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range for this position has been established as $4,906 – $5,690 per month)
This position may be eligible for a one time non-base building sign-on bonus up to $2,000. Details of this recruitment incentive program will be provided during the interview process.
This position is eligible for overtime compensation.
The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
